Why scale matters for military brick sets
Scale tells you how a finished model relates to the real vehicle. A 1:35 tank is smaller than a 1:28 tank of the same subject — not because one design is “better,” but because the manufacturer chose a different size language for the collection.
For collectors, scale is the difference between a coherent shelf of armor and a mixed row where a light tank towers over a heavy one. QuanGuan labels many sets with an explicit scale (commonly 1:28 or 1:35). Treat that number as a planning tool, not marketing fluff.
Reading QuanGuan scale labels
When a QuanGuan listing includes a scale such as 1:35, one unit on the model represents thirty-five units on the real vehicle. Halve the scale denominator and the model roughly doubles in linear size — so 1:28 subjects usually read larger and heavier on a display shelf than 1:35 equivalents.
Some sets omit scale when the subject is highly stylized, miniature, or part of a play-oriented theme. In those cases, piece count and finished footprint are better guides than an assumed ratio. Always prefer the printed scale on the box or official listing when it is available.
Comparing tanks, artillery and soft-skins
Tanks dominate attention, but artillery and support vehicles often use the same scale family. A 1:35 Pak or howitzer can sit convincingly next to a 1:35 tank destroyer; mixing that gun with a large 1:28 heavy tank will look uneven even if both builds are excellent.
Soft-skins and half-tracks are useful “rulers” for a shelf: if their road wheels and cabin heights feel consistent with neighboring armor in the same scale, your collection reads intentional.
Practical tips for collectors
Group by scale first, then by era or faction. Photograph shelves from a consistent distance so size differences stay honest when you share or document a collection.
When two QuanGuan sets share a subject but differ in scale or piece count, they are alternate interpretations — not upgrades. Choose the one that matches the rest of your shelf, your preferred build length, and the level of mechanical detail you want to see up close.
