About SU-85 Tank Destroyer

Bring a distinctive piece of armoured history to your collection with the QuanGuan SU-85 Tank Destroyer. Comprising 1,067 construction pieces, this detailed military model captures the purposeful, low-profile character of one of the Soviet Union’s most recognisable self-propelled anti-tank vehicles. Designed for builders who appreciate authentic military silhouettes and display-worthy engineering, the model features a sloped casemate, robust tracked running gear, a prominent forward gun, and carefully arranged surface details. Its compact proportions and angular armour give it an unmistakable presence on a shelf, desk, or dedicated vehicle display. The building experience offers a satisfying balance of repetition, structure, and fine detailing. Assemble the hull, suspension, tracks, upper superstructure, and weapon assembly step by step, then explore the completed vehicle from every angle. The finished model makes an engaging project for experienced brick builders and a striking addition to a military collection. Whether displayed alongside other historical vehicles or enjoyed as a standalone centrepiece, the SU-85 Tank Destroyer delivers a strong combination of construction appeal and historical character. With its USSR faction identity and rugged battlefield-inspired design, it is a compelling choice for collectors seeking a substantial QuanGuan military model. Please note that this is a construction-brick model intended for building and display. Colours, elements, and design details may vary slightly from product images or between production batches.

Historical Background

The SU-85 was a Soviet self-propelled gun developed during the Second World War. It was based on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank and paired that mobile platform with a fixed, enclosed fighting compartment and a powerful 85 mm gun. Rather than using a rotating turret, the SU-85 carried its main armament in a forward-facing casemate. This arrangement allowed the vehicle to maintain a relatively low silhouette while providing greater anti-armour capability than earlier Soviet self-propelled guns. The vehicle entered service in 1943 and formed part of the Soviet response to increasingly well-armoured German vehicles. Its design combined mobility, protection, and firepower in a platform that could support armoured formations while remaining mechanically related to the widely used T-34. The SU-85 remained an important part of Soviet armoured forces until later vehicles equipped with more powerful guns began to take over its anti-tank role. Today, it is remembered for its distinctive sloped hull, compact casemate, and place in the evolution of Soviet self-propelled artillery.
