The Sd.Kfz. 138 Marder III was a German tank-destroyer family developed during the Second World War. The vehicles combined a modified Czech-designed Panzer 38(t) chassis with a more powerful anti-tank gun, creating a mobile platform intended to engage armoured targets while using existing vehicle components. The Ausf.H variant was based on the Panzer 38(t) Ausf.H chassis. It mounted the main gun in an open-topped fighting compartment positioned toward the rear of the vehicle, with the engine located at the back of the original chassis layout.
