Historical Background

The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank developed in the years immediately before the Second World War. It was named after Kliment Voroshilov, a prominent Soviet military figure, and formed part of the early KV series of heavily protected vehicles. Its most recognizable feature was the large, box-shaped turret, designed to accommodate a powerful artillery weapon. The vehicle’s imposing turret and heavy armor gave it a striking appearance unlike that of many contemporary tanks. However, the added weight and tall superstructure placed considerable demands on the engine, transmission, and suspension. These compromises reflected the experimental nature of early heavy-tank development and the rapidly changing requirements of armored warfare. Today, the KV-2 is remembered for its unusual proportions, distinctive Soviet design language, and important place in the evolution of armored vehicles. This construction-brick interpretation emphasizes those defining characteristics, offering collectors an accessible way to appreciate the engineering and visual identity of one of the era’s most recognizable tanks.
