From bag sorting to track runs and display — practical habits that make larger QuanGuan military builds smoother.
Set up before the first bag
Clear a tray or sorting boxes, keep the instruction booklet (or tablet) at a stable angle, and decide where finished sub-assemblies will park. Military sets often produce long, narrow hulls — leave horizontal space, not only a small square mat.
If the set uses numbered bags, resist dumping everything at once. Open one stage, build it, then open the next. Your table stays readable and missing parts surface earlier.
Hull, running gear and tracks
Most armor builds establish the lower hull and running gear before the fighting compartment. Take your time on wheel alignment: a twisted track run shows forever on a shelf. Dry-fit a short track section before committing long runs if the system feels tight.
Keep spare clutch in mind — forced connections crack parts and hide stress until a later stage. If something will not seat, back up a step instead of pushing harder.
Turrets, guns and fragile protrusions
Install long guns and thin antennas late when the instructions allow it. They are the first casualties of an overcrowded table. Support the model under the hull when rotating it; never lift a heavy tank by the barrel or cupola.
For display, choose a stable base or shelf lip. Large 1:28 subjects can be nose-heavy; a small riser under the rear sometimes improves balance without glue.
After the build
Photograph the model in neutral light for your records — useful if you later compare scales or write notes. Dust with a soft brush; avoid household cleaners on printed parts.
If you collect multiple QuanGuan vehicles, store instructions digitally or in a labeled folder. Matching a spare bag to the right set months later is much easier when documentation stays with the model.
